The Pacific

I’ve been a bit down with all this rain and cold weather. The other day it was so cold you could see your breath. How is this still happening in June?

And while I would love to complain about this country and it’s miserable climate, I thought I should at least try and focus on something a bit more uplifting.

The beach.

I miss it.

I had a friend who once said that her happiness is proportional to her proximity to the ocean. I couldn’t agree more.

Except that here I am, on an island, literally surrounded by water (from both sky and sea), and it’s just not the same.

It’s not home.

So to reminisce a bit, I thought I’d put up a few pictures of Josh’s first trip to the beach. He was four months old and we had gone out to California for Christmas.

I was determined that the first time he set his eyes on an ocean, it would be the Pacific.

It has a special place in my heart and I am certain it will in Josh’s also.

  1. Wonderful photos!
Cheer up, Kerry–you mom’s visiting soon, and the sun will shine again. 🙂

    • Thank you Robin! They are very happy memories. I know I need to stay positive (ten days till my mom gets here, but who’s counting?!); it’s just we’re supposed to get something like 3 months worth of rain over the next three days…

I just don’t think it’s something I’ll ever get used to. I need the sun! 🙂

  2. Soaring into the sky! How lovely the photo of your son in your hands upholding, you can’t see his legs, they must have been up bent like the tail of a plane.hehe.

    • Thanks Amy. It was a happy day. That’s actually my sister in the photo you mention! I’m going to have to tell her you thought we looked alike; I’m sure it will make her day! Haha!

  3. Beautiful photographs, I feel blessed living by the sea, whether I’m swimming, surfing, running on the beach or just relaxing having a picnic. This place I was born is a part of me!

  4. Kerry, if it’s any consolation, I’m literally 10 minutes from the Pacific ocean, and in June, it is gloomy as heck. I’m still bundled up in my hooded sweatshirt and have zero plans to take my kiddo to the beach any time soon 🙂

    • Oh Nina! I should feel sorry for you guys with June gloom but it does make me feel better to hear you say that! Thank you for that! 😉
